SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, that is employed to verify whether an email message was sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will prevent the counterfeiting of email addresses created with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain name makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send email messages from mailboxes using the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it exists on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Any time some e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks whether it originates from an approved server. In the event it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, yet when it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address then make it look as if you are sending spam. This approach is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain name hosted in a shared web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our leading-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to use it is to pick one of your domains from a drop-down menu and enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be authorized to send messages from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution gives you the highest degree of protection, but it's not applicable when only your website is on our servers while the emails for the domain are managed elsewhere. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you will be able to protect your emails by enabling the SPF protection service for every domain name in your account with only a few clicks. You can do this through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous experience with such things, you will not have any trouble to activate the protection. The only things that you will need to do will be to find a domain from a drop-down menu then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. Once the updated record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be delivered globally only if they were sent from that specific server. If your emails are taken care of by us and not by a third-party provider, you will also be able to benefit from an option for emails to be sent only if the domain name has our MX records and the latter would be the most secure option.
